WHAT IS CAMP DREAM?
Camp Dream is a unique program designed for children and adults with special needs of all severity levels.
WHO ATTENDS CAMP DREAM?
We accept individuals who do not otherwise have recreational and social opportunities. To date, we have not refused anyone based on medical condition or severity level. However, we cannot accommodate campers who may be a danger to themselves or others.
WHAT KIND OF MEDICAL SUPPORT EXISTS AT CAMP?
Every session has a dedicated medical staff capable of dispensing medications, providing camper care (such as feeding tubes, catheter, etc.), and routine or emergency first aid. The regional medical center is adjacent to the property where urgent care or more serious conditions can be promptly attended to.
WHAT ARE THE FACILITIES LIKE AT CAMP DREAM?
Camp Dream is located on the grounds of the Roosevelt Institute of Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, GA. Our 74 acre facility provides a rustic recreational environment away from worries and concerns of everyday treatment. Our facilities and activities are designed for all campers to participate at all capability levels. Our facilities were built from the ground up to accommodate all physical special needs.
WHERE WILL I SLEEP?
Campers will sleep in a cabin with a central great room and a shared dormitory-style room. These rooms sleep two campers and two counselors and has a private bath and shower for each room.
WHAT AND WHERE DO WE EAT?
Meals are provided in our camp cafeteria three times a day. Special dietary needs communicated on the application are facilitated. Campers may bring their own snacks for their personal use which will be kept in their room.
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED AT CAMP?
Camp offers many opportunities for indoor and outdoor recreation. Swimming, fishing, bowling, boating, water slides, horseback riding and arts and crafts are just some of the activities offered. During the evening, we plan special events such as karaoke, movie under the stars, and dances which provide vital social interaction opportunities.
WHAT IS THE CAMPER-TO-STAFF RATIO?
We have a unique one-to-one ratio. Each camper has a counselor, however, there may be times where multiple low-severity campers are assigned to one counselor or a high-severity camper may get 2 or more counselors. This is at the discretion of the Camp Director.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND?
It costs the Camp Dream Foundation $500 to provide a camping experience to the camper and their counselor. We ask each parent to consider their own financial situation and to pay what they can and / or to consider participating in fundraising activities.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Applications are available under Session Info. For those without online access and who are unable to download the application, please call the Camp Director at 678-367-0040 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
CAN A CAMPER ATTEND MORE THAN ONE SESSION?
At this time, due to the limited number of camper slots and the large number of campers needing recreational opportunities, we are unable to accommodate individual campers for more than one session.
