We love all the children
At Camp Dream we do not refuse any child on the basis of their physical or mental condition. Our no cost program is open to all of Georgia's children with special needs.
Camp Dream strives to nurture each child and provide the richest camping experience possible for each individual camper. Our programs are developed to achieve a balance between structure and spontaneity; provide for the varied physical and emotional needs and interests of campers; and ensure their the safety and well being.
Our philosophy starts with the getting to know the camper and their parent or guardian. Our application tells us a lot about the care of our campers, but there is no substitute for the counselor, camper and parent getting together and discussing what routines and habits the child has or how the child is best comforted when in need.
As any of our campers will tell you, the number one rule at Camp Dream is having fun. Fun is incredibly significant and often undervalued part of a child's social, cognitive and emotional development. This is especially important for children and young adults with physical and/or mental disabiities.
Camp Dream wants to impart to each of our campers how easy it is to have fun. Our events and activities include horseback riding (in conjunction with The Good Shephard Therapeutic Center), swimming, bowling, fishing arts and crafts, alternative and traditional games and sports, and various other camp activities. And, as much as we would love to play, and play we do!....Structured times with calm, relaxing and quiet environments are well developed within activity plans and adapted throughout the day depending on the specific needs of each camper. Our trained staff and counselors work very closely with each camper to provide individualized care, security, and support so each and every one has FUN while empowering them to find success in their daily lives.
